Kansas recruit faring well

? Kansas University men’s basketball signee Keith Langford has been a scoring machine his senior year at North Crowley High School.

Langford, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, who chose the Jayhawks over Oklahoma, Cincinnati and Mississippi, scored a career-high 39 points on 6-of-8 three-point shooting in Tuesday night’s 85-25 victory over Brownwood High.

Langford who also had 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocks played just three quarters because of the torn meniscus in his left knee that will require surgery after the season.

Despite playing just three quarters of most games because of his sore knee, Langford is averaging 26 points a game for 20-3 North Crowley, the No. 5 ranked 4A team in the state.

Langford was named MVP of the 43rd annual Whataburger Tournament Dec. 28-30. He also was named all tourney in the 3Arlington Classic and Elite Eight tourney.

Surgery figures to keep Langford out about eight weeks after the season. He’s still hoping to be able to play in some all-star games in April and May.
