? Washington halted Kansas University’s run in the NFCA Leadoff Classic softball tournament with an 8-0 victory Sunday morning.

“I was not happy with the last game and it leaves a bittersweet taste in my mouth because I felt like we had done some really good things and made some progress throughout the games,” KU coach Tracy Bunge said. “To come out and play so poorly, without emotion and a real since of urgency is disappointing. I do feel like we made some major leaps and believe that we should be, and can be, competing with the best teams in the country.”

KU freshman Kara Pierce took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in three innings. Megan Urquhart, Amy Hulse and Leah Hansen each had a hit for the Jayhawks (8-8).
