Not normally known as a three-point shooting team, the Jayhawks were amazing from long distance today. Solid defense also contributed to today’s upset of the Big 12 leading Cyclones. The last piece of the puzzle was deadly accuracy from the free-throw line. Kansas led for the entire game, and turned in one of their best performances of the season.
The previous pattern was for Kansas to fall behind early, then mount a furious comeback only to fall short. That pattern nearly reversed itself, as Iowa State closed to within two points late in the game. The Jayhawks turned aside that rally, as they did every other on the day.
Jennifer Jackson led Kansas scoring with 16 points. Brooke Reves was right behind with 15. KC Hilgenkamp hit four three-point attempts for her 12 points. Jaclyn Johnson had ten points, notched eight rebounds and grabbed six steals. As a team, Kansas went 17-20 at the free-throw line.
