Martin Miller, 6-3, 270, DE

Moorpark College

Miller could be the wild card in KU’s class. He originally committed to Colorado State, switched to KU, but continued to make visits. He also had offers from San Diego State, Troy State and Fresno State. CSU continued to fight for Miller after he switched to KU. Whether he’ll be a Jayhawk is questionable.

Edison High in Miami

Mompremier originally committed to South Florida before switching to KU. Like Miller, his final decision was uncertain Tuesday night. He also received heavy interest late in the process from Mississippi State. … Also had offers from LSU, Florida State, Tennessee and North Carolina State. … Thirteenth-ranked outside linebacker in the nation.

Cinco Ranch High in Katy, Texas

Punted 39 times for a 39-yard average last fall. Ten of those punts landed inside opponents’ 20-yard line, including six inside the 10. … Made 29 of 29 extra-point attempts and five of seven field-goal attempts. Four of his field goals were from more than 40 yards — including a 50-yarder — and three came on the last play of a half. … Eighty-three percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks.

Jason Swanson, 6-1, 190, QB

City College of San Francisco

Completed 175 of 277 passes for 2,465 yards and 18 touchdowns with seven interceptions as a freshman when CCSF was 9-2. … Completed 62 of 104 passes for 1,187 yards with nine TDs and three interceptions before being sidelined with hyperextended elbow on non-throwing arm in seventh game of season. … CCF finished 12-0 and won NJCAA title. … Picked KU over Utah, West Virginia and Oregon State.

Junior College Transfers

Curtis Ansel, P, 6-1, 185, Lakin (Garden City CC). All-Jayhawk Conference punter as freshman last fall when he averaged 39.2 yards per boot. Had three punts of over 45 yards in league title game. Also kicked off. Has three years of eligibility remaining.

Greg Cole, OLB, 6-3, 235, Miami (Hutchinson CC). Rated No. 1 outside linebacker in Kansas juco ranks by Mo Kan football. Credited with 14 tackles for losses, including eight quarterback sacks. Played tight end as freshman. Also played TE at Miami Killian High.

Charlie Dennis, OLB, 6-5, 240, Derby (Butler County CC). Credited with 26 quarterbacks sacks in two seasons with Grizzlies. Rated No. 2 defensive end in state by Mo Kan. Two-time honorable mention all-conference pick. Class 6A all-state pick at Derby.

Leo Etienne, LB, 6-0, 215, Winter Haven, Fla. (Hutchinson CC). First-team All-Jayhawk Conference pick and Grid Wire All-American. Led Blue Dragons with 118 tackles and nine sacks last fall. Played quarterback and linebacker at Auburndale High. Selected by Tampa Bay Devil Rays in June 1999 draft.

John Harvey, OL, 6-6, 305, Avondale, Ariz. (Mesa CC). Preseason NJCAA All-American who earned All-Arizona and All-Western States honors. Rated one of top offensive line prospects in juco ranks. Juco teammate of KU red-shirt lineman Tony Damiani. Three-year letterman at Arcadia High in Phoenix.

Remuise Johnson, DB, 5-8, 175, Boynton Beach, Fla. (Garden City CC). First-team All-Jayhawk Conference selection who had nine pass thefts and 19 pass deflections in two seasons with Broncbusters.

Danny Lewis, OL, 6-5, 290, Surprise, Ariz. (Phoenix CC). First-team all-league selection during both years at Phoenix CC. Also lettered in basketball and track at Cactus High in Glendale, Ariz.

Jawad Pearson, OL, 6-5, 300, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (Chaffey CC). Two-year starter who earned All-Foothills Conference honors. Graduated from junior college in 11/2 years. Played high school football at Corona, Calif., Centennial.

Brock Teddleton, OL, 6-6, 330, Pevely, Mo. (Coffeyville CC). Preseason NJCAA All-American who sat out the 2000 season as a medical red-shirt and will have three years of eligibility remaining. No. 4-rated offensive lineman in Kansas juco ranks. All-state selection as defensive lineman at Herculaneum, Mo., High. Three-time state champion in discus.

Tim Allen, DT, 6-3, 255, Dallas. Three-year letter-winner in football who also earned monogram in swimming at Carter High. Named to school honor roll.

Ronnie Amadi, DB, 6-0, 175, Alief, Texas. Earned all-district honors as defensive back at Hastings High. Had nearly 150 career tackles and three interceptions during prep career. Member of state championship sprint relay team as a junior.

Johnny Beck, K, 6-1, 200, Kansas City Piper. Booted a state record 28 field goals for the Pirates, including 10 of 12 from 50 yards or more. Rated No. 2 kicker in region by Mo Kan. Longest field goal traveled 54 yards. Also played baseball for Kaw Valley League school.

Anthony Brown, LB, 6-1, 205, Grandview, Mo. Rated No. 1 outside linebacker in Mo Kan region. Two-time all-district and all-state choice. Holds school record with 330 tackles. Played in high school for Joe Hornback, a former KU offensive lineman.

Nick Clapp, LB, 6-1, 235, Phoenix. Earned honorable mention All-Arizona honors after making 98 tackles and recovering four fumbles for Paradise Valley High. Second-leading tackler in school history.

Marshell Chiles, RB, 5-10, 205, El Reno, Okla. Class 5A district player of the year after rushing for 2,008 yards and 44 TDs. First-team all-city running back as selected by Daily Oklahoman. First-team all-stater as kick returner. Rated No. 12 running back in the Midlands by Prep Star Magazine.

Banks Floodman, DB, 6-3, 195, Wichita Collegiate. Rushed for 1,743 yards and scored 30 touchdowns to earn Top 11 all-state honors from Wichita Eagle. Rushed for 264 yards in Class 3A state championship game. Also played linebacker as prep.

Jeremy Freeman, LB, 6-2, 225, Diboll, Texas. All-state as a junior and senior at Diboll High while playing tight end and linebacker. Recorded 18 career sacks.

Clark Green, RB, 6-1, 206, Tampa, Fla. Rushed for 1,400 yards as senior at Robinson High while playing both fullback and tailback. Also played linebacker and safety during his prep career.

Joey Guzman, OL, 6-5, 280, Tulsa, Okla. Listed by Mo Kan as one of top linemen in Big 12 region. On Tulsa World Blue-Chip list. Second-team All-Metro pick as nose guard at Union High.

Greg Heaggans, WR, 6-1, 185, KC Schlagle. Rated No. 1 athlete in Kansas by Mo Kan after playing QB and DE. All-Metro on both offense and defense and first-team All-Class 5A pick. In three years as Schlagle QB compiled 4,344 yards rushing and scored 64 TDs. Intercepted six passes last fall.

Justin Henry, TE, 6-4, 235, Hoyt. First-team all-Class 3A selection at Royal Valley High. Rated No. 1 defensive end in Sunflower State by Mo Kan. Earned 14 letters in football, track, basketball and baseball. An All-American scholar.

Brian Luke, QB, 6-5, 215, Walnut Creek, Calif. All-Metro choice of San Francisco Chronicle and Contra Costa Times. Set five school records at Las Lomas High while passing for 2,800 yards and 25 TDs. Team MVP as senior.

Brandon Rideau, WR, 6-3, 190, Beaumont, Texas. Played quarterback until senior year at Ozen High, then caught 39 passes for 800 yards as receiver. First-team all-district. Has 40-inch vertical jump.

Robert Sanders, RB, 5-10, 190, Killeen, Texas. All-district pick at Ellison High the school that produced KU running backs David Winbush and Reggie Duncan after rushing for 1,436 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns. Named team MVP.

Johnny Watkins, DB, 5-10, 170, Kirkwood, Mo. Rated top cornerback prospect in Big 12 region by Mo Kan. Missed most of senior year at Kirkwood High after suffering early-season knee injury.

Keith Watts, DE, 6-3, 250, Seffner, Fla. Second-team all-state selection at Armwood High in Tampa area.
