The KU men were leading a field of 37 while the women were in second among 22 teams.
Kansas’ men rolled a six-game score of 6,409 on Thursday. Saginaw Valley State was second at 6,273.
On the women’s side, Morehead State led with 5,885 pins. Kansas was at 5,871 and followed by Shippensburg State 5,832, Indiana 5,735 and Indiana State 5,704.
In individual standings, both KU’s Jason Elliott and Annetta Manthei were in second place. Other high-ranked KU bowlers were Marc D’Errico fourth, Kristina Boehm sixth, Jesse James eighth and Tiffany McBurney 12th.
