By Chris Cottrell     Dec 12, 2001

Former Kansas coach Larry Brown made the trip across the river from Philadelphia to watch the Jayhawks bring Big 12 basketball to the Ivy League. Despite letting the Tigers end the first half on a 17-4 run, Kansas led from beginning to end, never letting Princeton control the pace of the game.

Keeping the same starters as in every other game so far, Kansas scored the game’s first four points. KU took advangtage of five early Princeton turnovers to build a quick lead. The score stood at 15-5 by the first time-out.

Kansas could do no wrong in the early going-even hitting its first four foul shots-but seemed to put on the cruise control a little early.

Trailing 31-12 with around seven and half minutes to go in the first half, the home team brought the Jadwin Gym crowd to life by climbing back into the contest. A long-range desperation heave found the net just as the buzzer sounded to make it a six-point game.

The second half started as the first half did-with Kansas firmly in control. KU scored the first 10 points in the second period and pulled ahead by as many as 23 down the stretch.

KU held Princeton scoreless for nearly the first four minutes in the first half, and for the first five and a half minutes of the second.

Nick Collison led four Jayhawks in double figures with 19 points. Aaron Miles knocked in 16, Drew Gooden scored 15 and Kirk Hinrich added 11. KU outrebounded the Tigers 34-24.
