Three undrafted Kansas University football players – Chaz Murphy, Carl Nesmith and Marc Owen – signed free-agent contracts with NFL teams Monday.
Murphy, KU’s 6-foot-4, 252-pound linebacker, was one of 27 players signed by the Washington Redskins. He had 45 total tackles, including six sacks, last fall. Murphy was joined by fellow-Big 12 players Nebraska offensive lineman Jason Schwab, Baylor offensive tackle Tyshaun Whitson and Texas A&M linebacker Cornelius Anthony.
Nesmith, the Jayhawks’ 6-3, 215-pound defensive back, signed a free-agent pact with the Buffalo Bills. Nesmith had 103 tackles and three interceptions during his senior season.
Owen, a 6-2, 316-pound offensive lineman, signed with the Arizona Cardinals, joining former-Jayhawk defensive back Kwamie Lassiter. The Cardinals also added Iowa State offensive lineman Andy Stensrud.
