Grand Rapids, Mich. ? Kansas University’s men’s bowling team was sixth among 16 teams Thursday in qualifying for the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships double-elimination tournament.
KU earned a opening-round bye for the tournament.
The Jayhawks today will play the winner of a match between Utah and Erie (N.Y.) Community College. If the Jayhawks remain undefeated they will need three victories to advance to Saturday’s play.
“Our goal for today was to get a bye through the first round,” Kansas University coach Michael Fine said, “and we achieved that. So we’re optimistic about our chances.”
