Wichita ? Freshman Kara Pierce, who has been nursing a sore shoulder and was listed as questionable to play against Wichita State, apparently was well enough to throw a complete-game four-hitter as Kansas University salvaged a split of a softball doubleheader with WSU on Tuesday.
Pierce (13-7) allowed two earned runs off four hits in a 6-2 victory in the nightcap. Christi Musser and Courtney Wright each had three hits for the Jayhawks (21-20). Musser, who doubled and tripled, and Leah Tabb, who homered, each had two RBIs.
The Shockers (17-19) won Game One, 6-4. Kirsten Milhoan (6-10) took the loss for Kansas.
Erin Garvey had two hits for the Jayhawks, and Wright had a triple and three RBIs in the opener.
Kansas will play host to Baylor on Friday and Saturday.
