Austin, Texas ? Kansas University’s Andy Tate provisonally qualified for the NCAA championships Friday, completing the Texas Relays 3,000 meter steeplechase in 8:53.16.
His place in the event was not available.
KU’s Keith Wellman placed second in the 1,500 in 3:55.94. Brian Blachly notched eighth. Pole vaulter Jeremy Hull finished in 13th-place with in 16-43*4.
On the women’s side, junior Jennifer Foster placed fifth in the shot put (47-4 1/2) and 10th-place finish in the discus (148-4).
The team from Barton County Community college fared quite well. Simon LeJuan and Leevan sands placed first and second in the triple jump. Sands also took second in the long jump.
