Wichita ? The Kansas University doubles team of Ed Dus and Andrew Metzler advanced to the semifinals of the Shocker Classic on Saturday, winning 8-5 over Cowley County’s Tom Murray and Mitch Aster.
The Jayhawks weren’t as fortunate in singles. Dus lost to Oklahoma City’s Pedro Custaodao, 7-5, 6-4, while freshman David Stauffer fell to OCU’s Egberto Calldas, 6-0, 6-1.
In the loser’s bracket, Metzler advanced to the second round with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Schan Kimbell of Southwest Missouri State. Fellow freshman Gustavo Telles was knocked out, dropping a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Mike Hooper of Wichita State.
The tourney ends today.
