Fukushima, Japan ? Kansas University’s Conrad Roberts fell one stroke shy of medalist honors as the Topy Cup golf tournament concluded on Thursday.
Roberts, a senior from Wichita, fired 74-69-68211 in the three-day tourney. A Japanese player carded a 210 for low individual honors.
Kansas was never able to overcome a poor first-round score of 302 and settled for fourth place in team standings with an 873. The Jayhawks were eight strokes behind team champ Tohoku Fukushi (865).
KU’s Chris Marshall recorded 73-71-71215 and finished sixth in the individual standings. The other KU scores were: Andy Stewart 77-73-73223, Casey Harbour 78-73-77228 and Jason DeBuhr 85-76-73234.
Kansas was one of four U.S. teams invited to participate in the 11-team tourney. Texas finished at 871, two strokes ahead of the Jayhawks. New Mexico shot 879 and California
