KU duffers tied for 6th in Japan

? Kansas University’s men’s golf team was tied for sixth place, but only 10 strokes off the lead after the first round of the Topy Cup.

Kansas, one of four U.S. schools competing in the 11-team tourney, fired a 302 and was tied with California.

Texas and New Mexico were tied for third at 299. A Japanese team shot 292 for the first-round lead.

Sophomore Chris Marshall fired a one-over-par 73 to lead the KU contingent. Senior Conrad Roberts shot a 74 while senior Andy Stewart had a 77. Junior Casey Harbour carded a 78 and senior Jason DeBuhr an 85.

The second 18 holes were scheduled for today and the final 18 on Thursday. Results in Scoreboard.
