Columbia, Mo. ? Kansas University soccer team lost its regular season finale, 4-1, Friday to Missouri, but an Iowa State loss to Nebraska cemented the Jayhawks’ spot in the Big 12 Tournament. KU (7-10-2, 3-6-1 Big 12) is tied for eighth place in the conference with ISU but earned the final bid by virtue of its 3-1 victory over the Cyclones on Sept. 29 in Lawrence.
In Friday’s match, Missouri took a 3-0 lead before KU got on the board in the 21st minute on a long-range attempt by freshman midfielder Maggie Mason.
Kansas will play top-seeded Nebraska in the opening match of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday at San Antonio. Nebraska defeated KU, 3-0, on Oct. 1, and holds a 6-0 advantage in the all-time series.
