Aggies sink Jayhawk swimmers

The Texas A&M men’s and women’s swim team crashed the Wednesday night taping of the Fearless Football Forecasters. They also crashed the Jayhawks in competition Thursday at KU’s Robinson Natatorium.

The combined event of men’s and women’s swimming and diving was the first home competition of the season for Kansas University. On the women’s side, A & M won 10 of 13 events, while the Aggie men took 9 of 13.

Winners for the Jayhawks were Beth Schryer (1000 meter freestyle), Gwen Haley (400 meter IM) and the 400 meter relay team of Carolyn Grevers, Kim Waite, Ashley Dower and Molly O’Connor.

On the men’s side, Brian Soria won the 1000 meter freestyle, Adam Hanhart took Three-meter diving, Chad Sunderland won the 200 meter breaststroke. The 400 meter freestyle relay team of Daily, Hanson, Casady and Brown also won.

Next up for the Jayhawks is the Big 12 Relay Invitational, today in Lawrence. Swimmers from Nebraska, Iowa State and Texas will join the Aggies and the Jayhawks.
