Justin Henry, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound linebacker from Royal Valley High, has orally committed to Kansas University’s football team.
“I liked their staff, facilities, and I think their program is on the way up,” Henry told recruiting service MoKan Football, which ranked Henry as one of the top linebackers in the region.
Henry plays tight end and linebacker for the Hoyt school, but he projects as a defensive end at KU.
“I really don’t care which side of the ball I play on,” Henry said. “I like defense a little better, but I don’t care.”
Henry also received interest from Missouri, Oklahoma State and Colorado State.
“I’ve been to a game (at KU),” Henry said. “I like the way they made some changes and adjusted their practices. Now they’ve turned it around and are winning games. I think that speaks a lot about their program.”
Henry is the fourth high school prep known to have committed to KU. The others are DeShawn Spivey, a defensive end from KC Washington; Banks Floodman, a safety from Wichita Collegiate; and linebacker Anthony Brown, from Grandview (Mo.) High.
Oral commitments aren’t binding.
