TULSA, OKLA. ? Kansas University’s doubles duo of Eleazar Magallan and Rodrigo Echagaray won the doubles championship of the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. Region V Individual Championships on Sunday.
The eighth-seeded Jayhawks knocked off the No. 3 team of Drake’s Tim Miller and Stephen Killian, 8-5, in the finals of the 32-team tournament.
“I thought they played tremendously well,” KU coach Ross Nwachukwu said. “They really came out and wanted to show everyone that they were champions and they played like champions today.”
