Austin, Texas ? Texas forward Abby Gutowski recorded a hat trick Sunday, leading the Longhorns to a 5-2 victory over Kansas University. Midfielder Lauren Field also scored a pair of goals for UT.
KU (7-9, 3-5 Big 12) trailed 2-1 at halftime after midfielder Katie Lents scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Natalie Hoogveld. But Texas (11-4, 6-1 Big 12) scored three unanswered goals in the second half before Colleen Colvin made it 5-2. Colvin became KU’s all-time leading scorer with her fourth goal of the season and 11th of her career.
KU, which has lost three straight, returns to Texas this weekend, facing North Texas Friday in Denton and Baylor on Sunday in Waco.
