Kansas University women’s basketball coach Marian Washington announced on Thursday the signing of Blue Valley North’s Blair Waltz and Chelsey Thompson, a senior from DuPont High in Louisville, Ky.
Waltz, a 6-foot-2 guard-forward, averaged 14 points and five rebounds as a junior.
“We are just thrilled to have signed Blair,” Washington said. “She is a great student and has excelled as a high school player. She is one of the top long-range shooters and has the ability to create off the dribble. We are very pleased to have here.”
Thompson, a 5-10 guard-forward, averaged 13 points and 6.5 rebounds last season. Thompson is a 2000-01 preseason Street and Smith honorable mention All-American.
“Chelsea is a great young lady,” Washington said. “She is a combo player that can play anywhere one to the three, and she will fit in very well with our system.”
