UNLV frosh, prep from Michigan join Young Men’s hopefuls

? UNLV freshman Dalron Johnson and Michigan high school player Marcus Taylor have been added to the 2000 USA Basketball Men’s National Team Trials roster.

Those two players join Kansas’ Drew Gooden, Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich and 23 other hopefuls at this weekend’s trials at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

Michigan’s LaVell Blanchard, St. John’s Omar Cook, Cincinnati’s Steve Logan and North Carolina’s Jason Parker will not attend the trials, but are expected to apply for a waiver.

Finalists for the 2000 USA Basketball World Championship for Young Men Qualifying Team will be selected following this weekend’s three-day Trials.

The 2000 USA Young Men’s Team will compete July 19-23 in Riberao Preto, near Sao Paulo, Brazil, in the 2000 COPABA World Championship for Young Men Qualifying Tournament.

Aaron Miles, a 6-foot point guard from Portland, Ore., has trimmed his list of colleges to seven entering the summer recruiting season. Miles told Insider’s Report he’s considering Kansas, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Stanford and Arizona. It is believed Miles is high on KU’s wish list. Santa Ana, Calif., point guard Cedric Bozeman also is considering KU, plus Syracuse, Arizona, Florida, Duke and UCLA.
