KU’s Vance slated for shrine induction
St. Louis Kansas University’s Doug Vance will be inducted into the College Sports Information Directors Hall of Fame next Wednesday.
Also scheduled for induction during the CoSIDA annual summer workshop are Paul Newman of Edinboro and Wright State and Larry Smith of Arkansas Tech.
Vance is in his 17th year with KU athletics department and has 27 years overall in sports information. He has also worked at Austin Peay and Murray State.
Vance, currently KU assistant athletics director for media relations, a has served on the board of directors and is a past president of CoSIDA.

Baseball tryouts set for Wednesday
El Dorado The Cleveland Indians will hold their annual tryout camp for Kansas starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Stadium in El Dorado.
All Kansas baseball players ages 16-22 are encouraged to attend. Each participant should dress in baseball attire and arrive 30-45 minutes early to register. The camp will be under the direction of Cleveland Indians scouts Steve Abney, Herb Hess, John Davis, Brad Long, Jeff Brewer and Todd Briggs

KU hires Eikenbary
Eric Eikenbary, head men’s and women’s swim coach at the University of Findlay (Ohio) the past two years, has been named assistant women’s swim coach at Kansas. Eikenbary directed the Oilers to their best-ever national finishes and tutored 17 competitors to school records. He’s a native of Van Wert, Ohio.
