KU senior says foot injury ‘no big deal’

Kansas senior Kenny Gregory, who has missed three straight games because of a stress fracture in his right foot, has practiced all week and is planning on playing in Saturday’s Kansas-Ohio State game in Columbus, Ohio.

“My foot is no big deal. It’s 90 to 95 percent (healed),” Gregory said Wednesday. “The only reason I say it’s not 100 percent is I can still feel it at times when I cut. There is no excruciating pain or anything. I am not limited. I can still jump. I can still run.”

Gregory, who hurt his foot about five weeks ago and has missed games against Wake Forest, DePaul and Tulsa, said the toughest part is working himself back in shape.

“I’ve been shooting a lot, but up until Monday hadn’t been doing a lot of running or anything,” Gregory said. “The first day back I was sucking wind pretty bad.”

Gregory he wears an electrical stimulator on his foot up to 10 hours a day and even sleeps with the stimulator on his foot said he’s not rushing himself back just to be able to play in his hometown of Columbus.

“It was pretty important to be healthy by the time we played Ohio State,” he said, “but I was not going to rush the process just to play in that game. It’s no fun sitting out. It’s been tough on me. Until this, I’d never missed a game in my life.”
