Kansas University’s football team might be close to filling one of its three vacant assistant coaching posts with a former Missouri aide.
Former MU offensive line coach Sam Pittman’s name has surfaced as a replacement to dismissed KU line coach Walt Klinker.
Pittman, a Pittsburg State grad, spent one season at Mizzou under Larry Smith and spent two years at Oklahoma. Smith was fired this season, and new coach Gary Pinkel kept just one member of Smith’s staff, Andy Hill. Contacted Wednesday night, Pittman declined comment.
“I really can’t say anything until you talk to Terry,” Pittman said of head KU coach Terry Allen.
Allen did not return phone calls from the Journal-World.
