Kansas University’s volleyball team beat a group of former Jayhawks 17-15, 15-6, 15-6, 15-5 Saturday night in the annual KU volleyball alumni match at Horejsi Family Athletics Center.

The two teams decided at the start of the match to play four games regardless of outcome.

Senior outside hitters Nancy Bell (12 kills) and Amy Myatt (11 kills) paced the Jayhawks offensively. Junior setter Molly LaMere added 37 assists. Freshman Sarah Rome contributed nine kills.

“It’s good to play in front of some fans,” third-year KU coach Ray Bechard said. “Overall, the whole alumni experience is good for us. It is very enjoyable for our kids to play against such quality people. Tonight was a great way to honor some of our former players and coaches,” Bechard added. “It gives us a chance to tune-up for Friday’s matches (at Purdue Classic).”
