KU Softball Returnees

Katie Campbell, C, Jr., Anacortes, Wash. Transfer from Northwestern started five games behind plate in 2000 and hit .077. Twin sister of Kelly Campbell.

Kelly Campbell, P, Jr. Anacortes, Wash. Transfer from Northwestern made 20 appearances and fashioned 7-1 record despite 2.61 earned run average.

Erin Garvey, OF, Sr., Olathe East Speedy left-handed hitter started 51 games in outfield, but batted only .215 with just one extra base hit. Had nearly five times as many strikeouts as walks. Stole 16 bases in 18 attempts to rank second on team.

Amy Hulse, 2B, Jr., Olathe East Left-handed hitter who has started 101 games at second base. Hit .232 last spring after batting .235 as a freshman. Led Jayhawks with five sac bunts. Stole five bases in six attempts.

Christi Musser, OF, Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz. Played in 45 games and didn’t make an error, but batting average plunged from .268 as freshman to .202. Stole seven bases in 12 attempts. Missed six games with shoulder injury. Twin sister of Shelly Musser.

Shelly Musser, OF, Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz. Posted team best .313 batting average after leading Jayhawks with .296 mark in 1999. Led team in runs (27) and stolen bases (25), but those numbers were down eight and 17 respectively from ’99 when she earned first-team All-Big 12 honors. At-large second-team all-league berth last spring.

Leah Tabb, C-DP, Jr., Oklahoma City After promising frosh season (.241 batting average with four home runs and 22 RBI), slipped to .185 with one homer and nine RBI in 2000.

Megan Urquhart, 3B, Jr., Shawnee Mission Northwest Led Jayhawks with 12 doubles and shared RBI lead with 24. Hit .237 after posting .230 BA as frosh. Started 60 of 62 games.

Courtney Wright, INF, Jr., Tucson, Ariz. Batted .250 as reserve infielder. Had only 19 hits, but six were for extra bases (3 doubles, 3 homers).
