Baylor blanks Kansas, 5-0

? Baylor’s Kyle Evans threw a three-hit shutout in a 5-0 Big 12 baseball victory over Kansas on Saturday at Baylor Ballpark.

The loss dropped KU’s record to 22-25 overall and 8-18 in the Big 12. League leader Baylor upped its record to 38-13 overall and 19-7 in the conference.

KU’s Rusty Philbrick, who made his 44th career start to break David Meyer’s team record, lasted 61/3 innings, surrendering seven hits and two earned runs while fanning six in the loss. Philbrick’s record fell to 5-5. Sophomore Jeff Davis relieved Philbrick in the seventh, allowing no hits and no runs in 12/3 innings.

Doug Dreher, Ryan Klocksien and Matt Oakes accounted for KU’s three hits.
