A hot rumor making the rounds had Kansas men’s basketball signee DeShawn Stevenson recording a qualifying score on the SAT test.
Not so.
At least not yet.
Stevenson, a 6-foot-5 senior guard from Fresno (Calif.) Washington High, has not yet received results of the SAT, his mother, Genece Popps, said Monday. SAT personnel told her that because of a backlog, scores would be available next week.
Stevenson signed with Kansas last November, but has yet to qualify for a scholarship. The SAT test is next available on May 6.

Bryant Nash, a 6-6. 190-pound senior forward from Turner High in Carrollton, Texas, who has narrowed his list of colleges to Kansas and the University of Memphis, visited Memphis last weekend.
Turner coach Mark Bishop said all went well on the visit. Nash did not sign a letter-of-intent while on the trip.
Next up for Nash is this weekend’s trip to Kansas.
Nash averaged 15 points, 10 boards and four blocks this past season for 25-8 Turner High. At one time, he also considered Texas Christian, Texas A&M, Florida and SMU.
Memphis coach John Calipari over the weekend signed Modibo Diarra, a 6-9, 230-pounder from Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. Memphis earlier signed forward Arthur Barclay and is in good shape to ink 6-9 Liberto Tetimadingar of France.

Travon Bryant, a 6-9 forward from Long Beach, Calif., says he’ll play basketball at either Missouri or Cal-Berkeley next year.
“Kansas got another player my size and they have not contacted me in two months, so it’s safe to say I won’t be going to Kansas,” Bryant told Insiders Report.
“They’ve already got one junior (Leavenworth forward Wayne Simien) and will probably get Dennis Latimore (Halstead junior forward), so they are in great shape for the future.”
Bryant visited KU for Late Night With Roy Williams last October 15. At the time he was a high priority of KU, but was unable to come up with a decision the early signing period and the Jayhawks basically stopped recruiting him second semester.
“I like Missouri a lot,” Bryant said, “but not by so much I could not choose California when I am ready to sign.”
Bryant — he has yet to record a qualifying score on the ACT or SAT, told Insider’s Report he’d like to sign a letter-of-intent with one of his finalists by late next week.
