Seven games into the season and Kansas basketball cocach Larry Brown has decided juco transfer Lincoln Minor has been playing out of position.
“I think it’s imperative we get Lincoln playing the off guard,” Brown said. “I think he’ll be much more effective there.”
Thus Minor may not start at point guard when the Jayhawks meet Rider here tonight. Tipoff is 7:35 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse.
Who’ll start at point guard?
“I honestly don’t know,” Brown said. “I might put Kevin (Pritchard) back there. I don’t know.”
Pritchard is KU’s second-leading scorer, behind Danny Manning, with an 11.9 average, but has said he feels more comfortable playing off guard.
Kansas has had four days of practice since the Jayhawks’ last game on Monday night against Appalachian State, and the KU coach feels it’s been beneficial.
“I think we’ve accomplished a lot,” Brown said. “It will help in the long pull, but I don’t think you’ll see any immediate improvement.”
With Kansas in its final exam period, the Jayhawks won’t play again after tonight until next Saturday afternoon at North Carolina State.
At tonight’s game, collection boxes will be set up at the fieldhouse doors for food, toys and dry goods. All donations will go to the Ballard Center and be distributed to the needy of Douglas County.
Tonight’s game is officially a sellout, but general admission tickets will be available at the door.
