Last week's winner: It was Vince Myers, who went 6-0 and was oh-so close on the KU-A&M score prediction with a guess of 20-13.

Overtime has added tons of excitement to college football. Last season’s Kansas-Nebraska, for example, game was a classic.

The downside of OT? It distorts statistics. Final scores can be way out of whack, as can individual statistics.

A team could win a five overtime game this weekend and the statistics could be distorted to the point that team looks as if it has the best offense in the nation and the quarterback looks as if he has the best resume for the Heisman Trophy.

A better idea: Award the team that wins the game in overtime with one point. Count the yardage individuals compile during overtime, but not the touchdowns.

Predicted outcomes of Saturday’s Big 12 games:

Kansas 28, Nebraska 17: If the Cornhuskers can put 17 points on the board that would be the second-highest output against KU all season, ranking behind just Kansas State.

Missouri 31, Colorado 27: Mizzou is 3-6 in the past three seasons, but those teams weren’t as loaded as this one. Should KU fans root for a Colorado victory here to improve the Jayhawks’ chances of winning the Big 12 North, or should they root for a Mizzou victory in hopes that the Tigers will be highly ranked for the Arrowhead Stadium showdown? Root for the Tigers.

Kansas State 31, Iowa State 13: Wildcats quarterback Josh Freeman mixes flashes of brilliance with stale stretches, but big plays from the defense and special teams can be counted on more consistently. K-State ranks fourth in the nation with 16 interceptions, first in the nation in punt return average (23.1) and touchdowns (four).

Oklahoma State 38, Texas 34: The Cowboys, led by Kendall Hunter (7.5 yard per carry) and Dantrell Savage (6.0 yards per carry), rank fifth in the nation with 256.6 rushing yards per game. Texas is eighth in the nation in defending the run. Strength against strength.

Oklahoma 41, Texas A&M 20: Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford has been making good use of wide receivers Malcolm Kelly (31 catches, 17.8 yards per catch, eight touchdowns) and Juaquin Iglesias (43/15.1/4) and tight end Jermaine Gresham (23/12.4/6). Bradford has thrown 20 touchdown passes and five interceptions.

Texas Tech 48, Baylor 20: One of the pitfalls of the Red Raiders’ pass-happy offense is that the defense has to spend so much time on the field. Tech ranks 99th out of 119 in time of possession. In the Bears, the Red Raiders face a team playing out the string for a lame-duck coach.
