Mario Chalmers takes a deep inhale today, cause Michael Beasley is taking the heat from.... the Heat. According to reports, Beasley was forced into rehab this morning by Coach/GM/Owner/I don't f@cking know, Pat Riley and the Miami top men. Now, as his name had been circling in trade rumors, Michael will get to enjoy a vacation away from his vice with a doctor that specializes in these cases. Of course, if weed were just legal.....
Really though, did anyone expect anything different. He was recruited to K-State by Bob Huggins. He and Bill Walker were also teammates and no doubt hot boxed the locker room more than once. Then he took his addiction to the NBA where he spread it to wholesome individuals like Darrel Arthur and Mario Chalmers. Sadly though, I was one of the people against Chicago taking Rose first in '08, but it looks like I've been silenced in the most defeating way possible. At least I was right about Blake Griffin.

There's Charles Rogers and there's Randy Moss....
I say the verdict's still out on one Michael Beasley..... Let' see how he comes out of Rehab, before we say he's done.
I'm still in the camp of him being better than Rose long run, all he has to do is clean up and hit the weights.... Rose won't get the trifecta, he'll be a career 15 and 8 guy who doesn't play defense to make it 15 8 and 7..... in otherwords, He'll be Mookie Blaylock, and considering he's got dwayne wade's talent.... that's not exactly a copliment.
Beas gets to work he can still be a dominant power forward, he already got the human side of Derrick Rose.

Man, are you sure you're not smoking what Beasley has, did you just compare Derrick Rose to Mookie Blaylock..? I was a big fan of Beasley and thought the Bulls should've taken him first, but after watching what Derrick Rose did as a rookie who only drove the ball and still has to work on his passing and shooting, that kid is going to be an absolute beast once his game comes together... As far as Beasley goes, I feel bad for him because it seems like Miami has been on that guy's case since he showed up there, but, when you're paying him to be the #2 face of your franchise, it comes with the territory. Beasley has always been a space cadet and you can get away with that in high school and college, but the NBA points out all your weaknesses, and Beasley's is his mentality and he's not a great defender, but most rookies aren't... Provided he can get his mind right, he can still be an All-Star, but I've backed off thinking he'll be better than Rose, what that guy does seems abnormal for as fast as he is with the ball and how deftly he glides in and out of the lane... And in reality, Michael Beasley is probably more like Mookie Blaylock given their public run-ins with the ganja...

Freddy D, you said it yourself..... and you said it well....
that kid is going to be an absolute beast once his game comes together
Problem is... your assuming his game WILL come together... He doesn't look any better of a shooter after a year in the pros than he did after high school or his non- year at memphis.... even tually you gotta get that shot or people willdrop back 3 steps off you and force you to shoot the J.... You remember that 3 pointer midway through the second half against Us in the Title game.... it was about 3 feet high and 2 feet to the left but some how caromed in ???? It was from the LINE... in College.... not Pro. he ain't getting much better and won't as long as he continues to only dribble drive.
We heard this same hype from Chris Paul after Paul's first year ( he's amazing...the sun and moon rise with this guy !!!! he's going to be the next great thing.... ) Then he his shot didn't improve... nor did his defense much.... now he's just went all the way to 3rd best record in the west and completley tanked his playoff season because he no longer wantd to play for his coach.... Meanwhile Deron WIlliams has built hsi game and worked to stay in better shape....
Look at the coaches he's had.... Calipari didn't care, he just wanted that end result. Vinny Del Negro ???? You expect Vinnie Del Negro to get this kid to play defense and shoot the three ???? No it's not going to happen, he's content to be where he is and with the media telling him "he's the man" at Home in CHicago where he can rest under the shadow of Michael Jordan and Not doing anything to extend his Legacy.
I said alot of the same things about Kobe EXCEPT i knew Kobe was driven, Selfish, egotistical, horrible teammate but Definetely Driven. I don't see anyway he develops beyond much more than 15 8 guy, i don't.... he's going to take many many shots to to get that 15 and 8.....
Secondly, Don't joke on Mookie, mookie was a pretty good player and better than Rose will EVER be defensively.....

Alright, I'm still not sure what your problem with Derrick Rose is, but here are a few tidbits about Mr. Rose's game - for starters, he averaged 16.8 ppg last season in 81 games, the 2nd highest for a rookie last season after OJ Mayo... He led all rookies in assists last year with 6.3 and had a 2.54 assist-to-turnover ratio, the 2nd highest for rookies, but when you consider the dude above him had a 2.55 yet had half as many assists and TOs, I'll give DRose the benefit of the doubt ... side note - Chalmers had a 2.44 ato ratio... DRose also shot 47.5 percent last year, which led all rookie guards by a mile, considering the only rookies with higher FG% were centers, and there were only two other guards in the NBA that played at least 80 games that had a higher FG% than Rose, Rondo and Brewer from Utah... Now, I will say DRose's 3-pt shooting ability can use some work, considering he shot only 22% from downtown last year, but so what... The Bulls don't need Rose to shoot threes, and three point shooting is merely an added bonus when determining a player's overall ability - LeBron shot 29% from three his rookie season, DWade shot only 17% from three his third season, and the GOAT, Michael Jordan, didn't shoot higher than 20% from three until his FIFTH season in the league, and even during the last year of his three-peat when he was more of a shooter than slasher, he still only shot 24% from downtown, needless to say, Rose has some time to improve his shot... Derrick Rose is a different kind of cat because of his sheer speed and athleticism, which nobody, not even Paul or DWilliams can touch... To suggest that Rose won't improve his game is laughable considering he single-handedly brought Memphis to within his own missed free throws of a title, as well as he turned the Bulls around with the help of adding John Salmons and Brad Miller mid-season, and mind you, the kid is only 20 years old... The sky is the limit for DRose and when the Bulls land DWade next season and plug in maybe another big man, it's gonna be titles and dynasties all over again in Chi-Town... And as far as Mookie goes, yeah he was a good defender as long as he wasn't defending himself from Candian Customs Agents...

Freddy D.... No one is saying he didn't shoot a good percentage.... Im saying he can't hit a shot outside 15 feet.... eventually people will couinter that.... and it will happen sooner or later..... he doesn't have amid range game.... he doesn't have a distance game... he's scoring of getting to the basket.... and the closer you shoot .... usually the better the shot..... The 2 stats i will give him his career are the ones you are already pointing out.... he will score specifically with a mobile big in pick and pop situations..... specifically when switched against a slower defender.... someone he can drive on and throw running floaters from inside 8 feet.... He's gold on those.... that's how memphis got to where they were.... CDr's and Antonio anderson
s ability to make mid to deep jumpers and rose's ability to throw passes to the bigs for dunks...... Those are givens....
15 points 8 assists. those are right at his numbers now.... and he takes alot of shots....
I don't see him developing as a defensive player at all... he gets to 3 steals a game and I will be shocked.
He's not physical enough to board, he gets over 3 boards a game..... im shocked....
Where you and I differ...is where he will be in say 5 years..... you believe he will develop into a better team player, and a more consistant shooter ( as most of the analyists do )... Players of his ILK, specifically Chris Paul.... have not necessariuly done so.... I don't believe he will develop the three ball because i think he's convinced himself he don't need to.... i think he's content to drive into the middle and run into traffic.... Ala, Paul, Iverson, Baron Davis....
I see NO, literally, no evidence of Drive in Derrick Rose. None whatsoever. He's where he wants to be, and I see him sitting like tepid water. I want to see every pro player get better, becuase i love the Game. Watching Derrick Rose, is not artful, it's infact sluggish and i would rather watch paint dry. The league has gotten beyond his sort of stardom in alot of ways ( reminds me alot of francis and Marbury also.... ), why watch DerricK Rose at 1 when you can watch Brandon Roy do what Rose does and shoot consistant three balls.... The only way i see Rose getting motivated is if the city gets rid of him, if he leaves Chicago, his home. They part with him, he might be inspired to play better.
Of course, this is not generally what is noticed when people WATCH rose, they see the first step and say what if.... I suggest something of a difference.... I watch that first step and say, if only.... if only he could pair that with a working mid range or deep game.....
