"Pay Heed" Season Finale Part 2 recaps 2012-13, looks forward to upcoming year

A short "Seen It?" today, just to let you know that Kansas Athletics released a shorter Part 2 of its Season Finale this afternoon.

There's more locker-room dancing (and even some Naadir Tharpe singing), but as you'd probably guess, Travis Releford can't quite pull off the "McLemore" dance as well as Ben McLemore.

There's a lot to be excited about for this upcoming basketball season, and I know Andrew Wiggins is getting a lot of press, but I really hope our big men can step it up and help us "forget" about Jeff Withey. Man, I miss him already! He's such a quality young man, hard worker, very good free throw shooter and he blocked and altered so many shots each game, while committing very few fouls. We'll probably never know the true impact he had on the outcome of so many games. Best of luck to him and all the Jayhawks in the NBA! Best of luck to our current Jayhawks as well - it should be a very exciting season.

I agree - I'm most concerned about our interior defense. By all accounts Black looks like a good offensive interior player, but who will pick up the D? Embiid? However promising, it's too much to expect him to step in and produce Jeff Withey type defense right away. Our perimeter players, on the other hand, look like they have the potential to be a step up over last year's team.

Great video, but brings back a lot of bad memories. This should have some sort of disclaimer

Do any of the BB players at Kentucky ever graduate? I'd love to see a comparison on the number of KU graduates vs. UK graduates in the Bill Self era.

Great to see Cole walking as well as Dr. Moody.

I work at KUMC. I met Dr. Moody recently, during his rounds, on the unit I work on. He is a very nice guy! After a bit of basketball small talk, I asked for his autograph and he obliged very humbly.

Loved this team. Can't wait for this next season. Hard to explain to others the pride and passion we have for the University and program.

Our post players will be fine this season. Tarik is a really big guy, like Darnell Jackson big. So we can imagine what kind of player we will get and what kind of effort he will give by the last article we read about the post bootcamp stuff. In Coach Self's history here, a freshmen big hasnt produced big until later in his career. Same can be said for Embiid just based on his experience level. Sure, the big guy is talented but he's raw. No way he reproduced blocks at a Withey like level until later on. He will block shots and alter them because he is a 7 footer but not at conference record numbers he wont. We all know, until Embiid is ready, and for that matter, until Coach thinks he is ready, our main anchor in the post is going to be Tarik. Embiid and Lucas will follow him in the rotation. This season Im thinking Traylor backs up The Designer at PF. Who knows, maybe Lucas will see time at the 4 also.
Im just ready for the season to start. Right now.

That was narrated by one of the greats...the humble Wayne Simien.

Michigan should have never been a 4 seed. I hate the committee.

Jonny Swift 6 years, 8 months ago

Definitely agree with you there. There were at least a 3 seed, possibly a 2, but kinda slumped toward the end of the regular season which is why they dropped. Our region was stacked with Georgetown as the 2 (even though they got knocked out early), Florida as the 3, Michigan as the 4, and North Carolina as the 8.
