The hype continues.

Kansas freshman guard Andrew Wiggins is on the cover of the next Sports Illustrated, as confirmed by SI's Luke Winn on Twitter.

Winn also tweeted out a link to the iPad cover animation, which is worth a look as well.

Get that issue!! It will be worth loads of cash someday.

Is our football team so bad that most headlines/stories in the LJW are about basketball?

gorilla10 6 years ago

No, our basketball team is just that good! Football is still .500!!!

CalBBaller 6 years ago

without a doubt. Kansas is a basketball school. Football should be an intramural sport. We just can't get it right.

texashawk10 6 years ago

Crap, no national title this year.

Cora Smith 6 years ago

Concur. Appearing on SI is the kiss of death for a program.

nuleafjhawk 6 years ago

Nope. It's still ours if we want it. They didn't show his face.

Sae Thirtysix 6 years ago

StMichael always great. Stay classy JHKNation

William Weissbeck 6 years ago

I guess it's too late to tell him to run away from the camera as fast as he can.

SI cover curse. Time to be broken?

Teameat 6 years ago

Do people still believe in that? It's more so the result of a regression toward the mean than a phenomena caused by a curse. You don't ever see anyone on there after being at the bottom of their game, do you?

Andy Tweedy 6 years ago

I've always thought the curse was like a two week curse, so maybe we come out of the gate slow but then move past it. I don't think the SI curse has ever really been like the Chicago billy goat or the Curse of the Bambino has it?

asilva94 6 years ago

We've beat the curse before. Brandon Rush was on the cover in 2008

eastcoasthawk 6 years ago

Haven't seen it. But I just saw the new policy for this website regarding comments. This will be my last one. Moving to Rock Chalk Talk.

Hoosierhawkfan 6 years ago

Is this next week's issue? Does anyone have the release date? Thanks.

NOOOOOOOOOOO...why did they have to go an do this. KU basketball and SI Jinx have a proven track record. i don't like the fact they everyone's hyping wiggins so much. last thing we need is for him to have issues because he can't be superman.

Marvin Blackburn 6 years ago

Didn't Superman spend some time in his youth in Kansas?

orbiter 6 years ago

Good lawd, all this fearful pants-wetting from a bunch of ninnies is embarrassing. Just go root for a lesser team in a lesser program with a lesser coach with a lesser recruiting class that doesn't include one of the best recruits to come out of high school in last decade if you can't handle high expectations. It's not witchcraft and voodoo. We have the best coach in CBB building what could be a great young team. Enjoy.

Keith Gellar 6 years ago

Sorry mate...i've seen more than enough instances where we had the NC in our grasp and let it get away. IMO- this is the year for us to bring the NC back to KU. If Billo can't win an NC this year, i don't think he's going to win one again. And for that to happen, we need to make sure we have 0 distractions, 0 jinxes, 0 (insert negative distraction here). Everyone' s hyping Wiggins to be the next coming of jesus- well, all i can say then is, he better carry us to the promiseland

Justin Lindsley 6 years ago

Sweet... I hope its not like the Madden Cover.

jay_cheese 6 years ago

I put my faith in the players not some arbitrary superstition. What a great cover for pub and KU BBALL. RC

LaFriends 6 years ago

Wiggins gets all prospective credit for the suddenly impending knee-sock (mid-calf?) trend...

Keith Gellar 6 years ago

better hope so. so far, its Curse 5, KU 0

jay_cheese 6 years ago

They've only put a college bball player on 5 covers ever? That number seems a bit low to me. Please answer quickly if you know these facts b/c my commenting ability is nil in about 9 hrs....

Tony Bandle 6 years ago

NAW...every year around NCAA Tourney time they put one player from every school plus some Mascots in a collage on the SI cover to even out the curse on everyone!! :)

Dale Kroening 6 years ago

Wasnt Anthony Davis on the cover of SI ??? For some reason I think he was, or maybe it was before the draft. Anybody that gets SI answer ?

Dale Kroening 6 years ago

It wasnt before the season started, but before the tourney and worked out pretty well for UK. Im not worried about no curse..........

Bryce Landon 6 years ago

So have we changed the style of our jerseys again?

Phil Leister 6 years ago

Check out the iPad version's cover. Sweet.

Let's see how this new deal is going to work.

There you go, no more user names.

Jack Joiner 6 years ago

It will be interesting how much usage of this site drops.

Steve Gantz 6 years ago

I'm Wissoxfan83, maybe if people could identify themselves til we get used to our names. Of course if this post was 49 lines you'd know that it was Jaybate!

I'm glad I can still access at work.

I suppose we'll get used to the new KUSports.

I wonder what they're saying on the other LJW sites?

Wiggins won't be Wilt or Danny til he sticks around for a few years like those guys did, but winning a championship would help with the comparison.

There is no curse in play, because Andrew is facing AWAY from the camera. This is a little-known exception to the SI cover curse rule dating back to Matthew Brady and early daguerreotype SI covers. It is believed that Gen. U.S. Grant was a firm believer in the SI cover curse. Before the Siege of Petersburg, Gen. Grant was informed that his beach volleyball squad was to appear on the national SI cover. In order to deflect the curse, Gen. Grant ordered the entire team to turn their backsides to the camera for the full two second exposure. The brilliant maneuver was completely successful, as the squad went on to win the Appomattox Invitational. I can say with all due certainty that no SI curse will befall Andrew Wiggins and the freedom-loving Kansas Jayhawks.

Dale Kroening 6 years ago

ESPN has done the same thing as far as commenting and linking your identity with facebook. I dont have a problem with it.

Mel Wedermyer 5 years, 12 months ago

Was a good issue and there is no curse.....
