After Auburn ended the Kansas basketball team’s season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, sophomore K.J. Lawson explained how issues on the defensive end of the floor made a rally difficult.
“You can’t trade baskets when you’re down,” Lawson said. “And we just didn’t put together enough stops in the beginning.”
The Tigers led by as many as 27 points while eliminating KU.
A surprise standout off the bench as Kansas won on the road for a change, K.J. Lawson discusses his crunch time contributions to an 82-77 Jayhawks victory at TCU.
“Everybody was happy,” Lawson said after scoring both the basket that got KU to OT and a go-ahead bucket in the extra period. “It was a group collective. Coach Self was mainly happy for me. I know my brother was happy for me, and Marcus and Charlie Moore. Those guys were definitely happy that I played well.”
They might have only been drills and some five-on-five reps, but the 2017-18 Kansas basketball team made its first very unofficial appearance Tuesday at coach Bill Self’s annual camp.
