Kansas head football coach David Beaty gave an update on the quarterback competition during the final preseason press conference on Thursday.

Peyton Bender, Carter Stanley and Miles Kendrick are all competing for a chance to take the first snap in the season opener against Nicholls State on Sept. 1 at Memorial Stadium.

Beaty, who is entering his fourth season as head coach of the program, believes this weekend’s scrimmage will be key when it comes to deciding on a starter.
