Not long after KU's 87-63 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon, Kansas coach Bill Self and assistant coach Jerrance Howard headed to South Dakota to watch 2019 recruit Matthew Hurt in the Hoop City Classic.

Hurt, the five-star forward and Top 10 prospect from Rochester, Minn., who has been at the top of KU's wish list in the 2019 class for years, scored 36 points in a 74-62 loss to Brandon Valley (SD).

Hurt has unofficially visited Kansas, but has yet to make an official visit to Lawrence. That is scheduled for the first weekend of February.

The 6-foot-9, 200-pound do-everything forward officially visited Kentucky in November, North Carolina in mid-December, and will visit Duke in January.

Memphis, which also had an assistant coach on hand Saturday night, is also in the mix for Hurt.

I think he scored 56 against our local school team a few weeks ago.

with KU missing on so many big time big men this off season, they really cant afford to lose out on Hurt..especially since they are expected to lose Lawson and Azibuike..

I'm not so quick to jump on the " expected to lose Lawson and Azibuike" train. There are legitimate concerns by the NBA about their abilities which could make them 2nd or 3rd rounders.

That makes their exit plans a little murky.

No such thing as a 3rd rounder, unless by that you mean undrafted.

I agree with you completely. They're two guys who can completely dominate the college game but I'm not sure how their games translate to the NBA.

Lawson and Azibuike might not be sure fire 1st rounders but they are still much as id love to see either of them return for their senior season, I dont see them returning..Dedriic has already lost an entire year of potential earnings by having to sit out after transferring

Would be nice to resolve the Adidas cloud that is having over KU and being used by other coaches to badmouth Self's program to potential recruits. When is the Nike sink coming to light?

Dane Pratt 2 years, 11 months ago

Assuming the FBI has the same evidence on Nike that they have on Adidas, I think the Nike defendants will take a plea. If that happens none of the schools involved will have their name dragged through the mud.

I got my legal expertise from Law and Order so this opinion plus $2.50 will get you on a local bus.
