2020 PG Ty Berry to visit Kansas for Late Night in the Phog

Class of 2020 point guard Ty Berry will make the short trip north to Lawrence on Sept. 28 to unofficially visit the University of Kansas for Late Night in the Phog.

Berry's father and coach, Tony Berry, who played football at KU in the mid-1980s, revealed the family's plans to on Monday.

Berry's father, who was a roommate of Danny Manning's during his KU days, also played junior varsity basketball at KU, when the program still existed, and was coached by John Calipari on the JV squad.

As for the younger Berry, the 6-foot-2 point guard from Newton, has done plenty during the past two summers to establish himself as one of the top high school prospects currently playing in Kansas.

In addition to being on KU's radar, Berry has received offers or heavy interest from Kansas State, Creighton, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State and Kentucky.

Here's a quick look at some highlights from last summer's Jayhawk Invitational.

This looks like an uphill battle with Coach Cal having coached his dad and UK enjoying robbing Kansas of any good prospect. Still, 2020 is a long way off so let's see what happens.

Tony wouldn’t you think that Wake Forest has the best shot at him if his dad was room mates with Danny Manning.

KU (football) 28, OU 11

"Another bit of good news for OU came with 11 seconds left, when KU cornerback Tony Berry's interception of an Irvin pass was nullified by penalty."

Not all that worried about Coach Cal. Just because Calipari got one KS kid doesn't concern me. I happen to know KU didn't recruit Cauly Stein until late in the ballgame. Further, Berry isn't ranked in the top 10. More concerned with Danny Manning jumping in on this one. I'm pretty confident that KU is still the choice for KS kids.

He'll probably go where he gets most playing time. Kansas State, Okie State, Creighton.
