A+: Xavier Henry. Can't really argue with the performance. Guarded his numerical doppelganger (#1) during most of the first half and did a solid job. Can't really argue with 19 points on 11 shots. 5 boards, 2 assists, and only 1 turnover. Excellent game. (A- average)
A+: Marcus Morris. 19 points on only 10 shots. 2 of 3 from 3. 11 boards (6 offensive!) but his highlight of the night was responding to bricking two free throws by getting his own rebound and then sinking his next two free throws to ruckus cheers from the crowd. (A- average)
A: Tyrel Reed. Second straight game where Tyrel has done exactly what the team needs him to do. Made his shots, had a great "blow by" move to sink a layup. A couple of boards, a couple of assists, a steal, and just one turnover. And did a great job of staying infront of his man most of the night.
A-: Sherron Collins. Not a big offensive night from Sherron, but still got over one point per shot (9 points on 7 shots) and had 7 assists with ZERO turnovers. Recognized that a couple of his teammates had the hot hand, and fed them the ball. Sherron's scoring load will be reduced this season by the emergence of the Morris twins and the arrival of Xavier, but he realizes that, and has developed the ability to be the "pass first" point guard we need him to be on certain nights.
A-: Markieff Morris. Only played 13 minutes but made the most of it. 8 points on only three shots, 4 boards, a steal and a block, BUT had 4 fouls. (lets be honest, the refs were making ticky tack calls both ways all night, there easily could have been half as many fouls called in this game as UN-physical as it was). (A- average)
B+: Elijah Johnson. The outside shot failed him a couple of times, but he shows extreme quickness and took care of the ball with 3 assists and no turnovers. (B average)
C+: Tyshawn Taylor. Got caught in the air with no idea where to go with the basketball too many times. He also made a few layups more difficult than they needed to be. (Could be the consequence of playing against a talented big man like oakland's Keith Benson, who blocked 4 shots). (C+ average)
C+: Connor Teahan. Made both free throws in 3 minutes. (C+ average)
C: Cole Aldrich. Wow. Second game in a row where the opposition basically said "we might get beat, but not by Cole Aldrich". Cleaned up the glass with 9 boards (5 offensive) and did play sound defense with 3 blocks. But was only 2-10 from the field and missed his only free throw... and most of the misses were from close range. Oakland double teamed Cole all night, but that is what he is going to see the rest of the season, so he needs to step up a bit.
C: Thomas Robinson. Picked up 4 fouls in 9 minutes. (some looked ticky tack, but freshman typically tend to guard with their hands not with their feet) a couple of his shots looked downright ugly. (C+ average)
D+: C.J. Henry. Took a bad looking 3 pointer, and made the biddy-ball mistake of dribbling the ball off of his own foot. Not nearly as impressive as his debut. (B- average)

Aldrich should have had a D or an F for his performance...He played pathetic for a 7 footer.

He keeps playing like a pansy! Dunk the ball instead of trying to finesse the ball up to the basket...Im waiting for him to finally get angry! I cannot wait to have Jeff Withey because at least when Cole Aldrich is playing like Cold Aldrich we have another 7 footer to put into the game, especially since Robinson is already struggling. I think Cole will have good games this season but these are the teams that Cole should be stacking up stats.

I think a D or F would not be deserved by Aldrich considering he cleaned up the glass and blocked 3 shots. a D or F would only be deserved if Cole's man went off for 35 points, cole didn't grab more than a couple of boards, had several turnovers, and got in foul trouble. Remember, there are many aspects to playing a solid basketball game, and Cole only did ONE of them poorly.
I'm surprised sutton didn't call aldrich a douche...

I think thats what d stands for in dsmith84...Moving on though...Aldrich did one thing poorly?
His man didnt go for 35 but he went for 20! And he got 9 boards against Oakland...Now I know Oakland is not bad but come on we are going to be playing better big men than those that played for Oakland. He also only had 4 points and hes 7 feet tall...Dont give me this solid game BS! He played awful. You see, I give credit where it is deserved and I criticize when its deserved and so far this season Tyshawn and Cole are not getting it done, but more so Tyshawn...Cole did win us the Memphis game but thats really about it. Going 2-10 in a game against a team that he should have dominated is not a good sign. I think he will pick it up but we need him to start showing up.

"His Man" is a preseason 1st team all conference pick. and don't act like that isn't a big deal because it is a lame conference. Remember, one Ben Woodside from the same conference lit up KU for 37 points last year.
Also, "his man" was coming into the game averaging 17 pts and 10 boards, so getting 20 and 6 is about average.
Also, Cole played 23 minutes in the game, while "his man" played 37 minutes. So is Cole accountable for that guy's performance when he guarded him for at most 62% of his minutes? (assuming Cole's 23 minutes totally overlapped with Benson being in the game, and that Cole guarded Benson on every possession while in the game).
The fact that he is 7 feet tall is irrelevant when the opposing team also has a skilled big man (which they did). I agree, he should have made more of his shots, but the fact of the matter is, he collected 9 rebounds in only 23 minutes, blocked 3 shots, and didn't throw the ball away. He had an off shooting night, and for a game where you have an off shooting night but do other things well, you get a C.
Lets not start name calling either. I was just making an observation on a previous comment you made about Xavier Henry after the previous game.

For the record Cole played 23 minutes because he was stinking up the court...That was his second bad game in a row too. It's ok with me though, Cole playing better tonight, still missing some chippies but playing better...Taylor had a great first half.

Sutton... you think it's easy to have your game everynight...against D1 studs.... fine.... he's always struggled playing against little teams..... Nebraska last year etc..... Im not going to kill him based on two performances.... Especially when the second player... Oakland's big has League potential.....
Keep in mind..some of his boards from last year and points are going to 'cus and "kieff because they have improved.... they are now LEGIT bigs.... and he has numbers getting cut into..... Case in point tonight... 14 10 and 4.....
You wanna look at two great centers/ Power Forwards in the league who don'
t alkways run up impressive boxscores... KG and Tim Duncan..... those guys some nights are 24-17 guys.... some nights they are 8 and 5 guys.... it has less to do with stinking up the court and more to do with playing to the teams strengths.... Against a team like Oakland... and a big like Benson, you are better off witha MOBILE big.... there are alot of things the Condor is... Mobile is not one of them..... His 4 points were still impact points.... he still had 9 boards in 23 minutes and 3 blocked shots..... and probably helped ease some of the other bigs points by making Benson Work...... Kieff's 8 and 'cus's 13 inside the paint probably came a bit easier because of the Presence of the COndor.
Self woulda forced him in last year against players like Benson.... and he would have struggled and slowed the team down... this year... we win with our top tier players going for under 20 combined....
Look it, Sherron's handling this WELL.... Cole's still finding his way..... thing is Come COnference time.... Condor's still gonna be rested playing 23 minutes a game.... it's a good thing they are getting him out of these early games.....
Relax on the big man, he's got this. Rock Chalk 5-0.... bring on McNair State McNairs.
PS.... A stat im getting incredibly use to seeing.,..is under 12 turnovers per game...... this team is going to win ALOT of games scoring over 80 points and not giving up 12 turnovers
