Kansas guard Devonte' Graham (4) pulls up for a three against Oklahoma State guard Kendall Smith (1) during the second half, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Gallagher-Iba Arena, in Stillwater, Okla. by Nick Krug

1 - Devonte' Graham: Made 3 of 7 3-pointers, but just 1 of 7 2-pointers on his way to 15 points. Also had eight assists, two steals and three turnovers. Hit big shots in first half to keep Cowboys from running away with it early.

2 - Udoka Azubuike: Had eight points and seven rebounds, but also turned it over four times.

3 - Marcus Garrett: Had seven points and five rebounds and gave team a first-half defensive boost.

4 - Silvio De Sousa: Hustled and showed his athleticism on a Graham pitch-ahead that he turned into a throw-back dunk in transition. Has to do a better job of preventing passes to his man in the post, but showed nice knack for the ball in picking up 2 of 3 rebounds on the offensive end. Scored seven points in 13 points.

5 - Lagerald Vick: Another quiet day for the puzzling junior. Made just 1 fo 5 3-pointers and totaled eight points and five rebounds. Averaging 4.7 points in past three games.

6 - Svi Mykhailiuk: Rough day. Bothered by the Cowboys' pressure in the half court, Svi turned it over four times and had trouble finishing (2 of 7 field goals, 1 of 2 3-pointers) and defending. Did have two steals, but scored just five points.

7 - Mitch Lightfoot: Five points and three rebounds in seven minutes. Not his best defensive performance.

8 - Malik Newman: Not the assertive performance team looking for from him. Didn't have an assist and had three turnovers. Totaled seven points and three rebounds on a day team needed more of both from him.

9 - Sam Cunliffe: Produced two points and a rebound in three minutes.

"Devonte' Graham tops ratings in home loss to Oklahoma State"

I didn't think teams could play a conference team twice at home in the same season ...

By “home loss” I gather that Keegan was having flashbacks to the drubbing O-State handed KU in Lawrence.

Did Bill Self tell Tom Keegan to start this column as a way to stimulate the competitive spirit in the players? Because that's about the only reason I can think of as a legitimate rationale for this regular column. I find, for instance, that Devonte's perceived performance edging out the Dok's perceived performance in this game as a completely manufactured factoid that measures nothing legitimate as far as I can tell. Ranking the 9 players from top to bottom is even more meaningless. It has almost nothing to do with how well they played with other members of the team, it does not reflect the kind of effort each player had to come up with against the opposing players during the game, and really contributes nothing to the understanding of the game that just transpired.

I think during the offseason Tom would do well to rethink this column and come up with something that actually contributes to a better understanding about how the team is doing, because the numbers game he has come up with means nothing as far as I'm concerned.
