Jeff Withey leads Jayhawks in victory over North Carolina

By Staff     Mar 25, 2012

**1. Jeff Withey:** Had two of his three blocked shots late and scored 15 points, despite having just five field-goal attempts, all of which he made. Also made 5 of 6 free throws and picked up eight rebounds.

**2. Tyshawn Taylor:** Still hasn’t hit a three-point shot in a dome and has made 3 of 37 three-point shots in his NCAA Tournament career, but nobody was complaining about any of that. Taylor used his quickness to get to the lane and finished and hit mid-range jumpers. He totaled 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, three turnovers and five steals.

**3. Thomas Robinson:** Was the game’s most dominant figure in the first half with 14 points and finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. The statistic that best revealed how locked in he was: He made all five of his free-throw attempts.

**4. Travis Releford:** Extremely active, Releford deflected balls, had two steals and three rebounds and scored 11 shots, making 4 of 6 field goals.

**5. Elijah Johnson:** Never mind that Johnson had made just 2 of 10 field goals to that point, when Johnson’s man dropped off him and gave him the three. He took it, made it, ended a team scoring drought of more than five minutes and gave KU a four-point lead with 3:07 left. North Carolina never drew closer than that.

**6. Kevin Young:** He missed all four field-goal attempts, but he made huge contributions in the way of energy, rebounding (eight, four on the offensive glass) and passing (two assists). He also made both free throws.

**7. Conner Teahan:** Contributed an assist and a steal in 13 minutes and kept the ball moving to the right places without turning it over.

**8. Justin Wesley:** Played just two minutes, but scored on a tip-in.
