Reesing back on top of Keegan rankings

Blog: The Keegan Ratings

Subscribe

1. Todd Reesing: He was even more accurate than 28-for-41 indicated. Two touchdown passes were dropped or he would have had five without a pick. Finished with 338 yards passing.

2. Maxwell Onyegbule: Had another sack and returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown. Should have had one more sack but missed it.

3. Darrell Stuckey: Had a team-best 11 tackles.

4. Toben Opurum: Showed excellent hands (hand in the case of one spectacular grab) and contributed 70 rushing yards and two touchdowns and 50 receiving yards.

5. Dezmon Briscoe: Dropped a likely touchdown but still had 117 receiving yards and a touchdown.

6. Drew Dudley: Not very fast but rugged. Had a sack and 2.5 tackles for a loss among his eight tackles.

7. Jeremiah Hatch: Left the flu behind him, snapped the ball much better and contributed strong blocking.

8. Daymond Patterson: Good luck trying to beat him on long pass patterns.

9. Huldon Tharp: Had 10 tackles. Still finds himself out of position at times, but is a crisp tackler who flies to the ball with impressive quickness.

10. Sal Capra: Last week’s Offensive Player of the Game as voted by the coaching staff had another solid performance.

Where is Bradley McDougald anywhere on these rankings? Dude's been solid as a freshman, he should have at least a point or two.

So Justin Thornton is tied for 13th and 16th? That takes talent.

I've been impressed with Arist Wright. Never realized that dude was so quick...and a very mechanically sound tackler. He also does small detailed things that helps the defense. I'm more impressed with Wright, Tharp, and Dudley more than Mortenson, Holt, and Rivera.

Agreed, but scientific is not a word for football statistics in general either. Sports stats do not factor in important initial conditions and boundary conditions, such as the dropped passes in a quarterback ranking. How can they? It would just be too complicated. Besides, leaving out information seems to be OK for the typical football fan.

Have to agree with Crimson. McDougald has been a factor while the game is being decided. He should be switched with Kale Pick. Kale has only played clean-up so far so those points are pretty hollow.

meier deserves at least a point this week for his effort to bring down the Duke player on the blocked PAT - that's the definition of hustle
