After each KU football game this season, this is where you can find out the gridiron equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He'll rate the Top 10 Jayhawk individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (Scoring: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second-best gets nine points. Third-best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom.)1. Daymond Patterson: A freshman, he returned four punts for 135 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown that will be replayed until the end of time. He also caught three passes for 22 yards. 2. Dezmon Briscoe: Wide open in the corner of the end zone, Briscoe leaped for a high Todd Reesing pass and managed to keep his feet in bounds for his third touchdown reception, thus fulfilling an easy prediction [here][1], [here][2] and [here][3]. 3. Alonso Rojas: Easing fears, Rojas kicked field goals of 47 and 37 yards and averaged 46 yards on three punts. 4. Kerry Meier: Caught nine passes and showed a knack for running routes just long enough to get the first down. 5. Mike Rivera: Typically active, Rivera got into the backfield consistently. 6. Jake Laptad: Had two sacks, including a huge one on fourth down early in the game. 7. Phillip Strozier: The team's nickel back, Strozier intercepted two touchdowns. 8. Caleb Blakesley: Two of his six tackles were for losses. 9. Kendrick Harper: Covered well and played a physical game, contributing four tackles . 10. Todd Reesing: Not quite as sharp as usual, Reesing was able to get the ball off quickly to avoid a pretty consistent pass rush. The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points) 1. Daymond Patterson (10 points) 2. Dezmon Briscoe (9 points) 3. Alonso Rojas (8 points) 4. Kerry Meier (7 points) 5. Mike Rivera (6 points) 6. Jake Laptad (5 points) 7. Philip Strozier (4 points) 8. Caleb Blakesley (3 points) 9. Kendrick Harper (2 points) 10. Todd Reesing (1 point) [1]: http://www2.kusports.com/news/2008/aug/27/welcome_back_how_will_big_12_schools_fare_week_one/ [2]: http://www2.kusports.com/keegan/2008/week1/ [3]: http://www.thedriveshow.com/

Congratulations to Briscoe on a great day. That was awesome. Congratulations Keegan, you managed to take comments the coaches made about Briscoe and make one accurate prediction. You've now bragged about it in two articles today.Toot your own horn. Celebrate. Take this opportunity to try to make the story about yourself. Glory Halleluiah! All praise Keegan. Pay no attention to the crappy Keegan predictions behind the curtain that didn't come true on Saturday. Just look at the one prediction that came true because a young man's lifetime of hard work, sweat, and great coaching put him in position to do it. Take credit for that young man's hard work. Well done Keegan! When Keegan doesn't have a coach's comments to tell him what to think, what kind of predictions did he make about yesterday? Take a look at Keegan's AP preseason Football ballot to get a clue:http://www2.kusports.com/news/2008/aug/16/poll/Voting for Michigan when the vast majority of the rest of the AP voters left them off the list? How did Michigan do yesterday? And who beat Michigan? The Utah team that Keegan left off his ballot, but that team still got more AP votes than Michigan, so the rest of the AP voters thought more of Utah than Michigan.Keegan left Alabama off his ballot, when the rest of the voters put them in. Alabama beat #9 Clemson. How about Virginia Tech? How about Wake Forest? This week Keegan will have last week's AP poll to use as his cheat sheet. He'll probably do a little better.I can understand why Keegan would want to celebrate his one accurate prediction. He doesn't get them right very often does he? Especially when he makes them on his own without help from others. Thanks for a great performance yesterday Dezmond. It was fun to watch. You did it with hard work, keep it up. Don't worry about someone else desperately trying to make themselves look good from your efforts.

5Decade.....I think I speak for most KU fans when I say that we are sick and tired of hearing all your negative reviews about the LJW sports reporters' articles. If you don't like the way they cover the program, read the Topeka or Wichita or KC papers instead. If you want a job as a sports editor for a newspaper, either go back to school and get a degree or send your already-impressive resume to the paper of your choice. But PLEASE stop bringing us all down with your negativity.

Great job on that prediction, Keegan. Right on the money. Great analysis as usual.5decade - If you do not like the LJW, get the hell out of here and stop reading it!! You are a textbook example of how each fan base has some extremely embarassing fans. Get over this crap and find a new obsession, other than heckling the writers (the writers who do a great job).

LJW- I just want to take the time to thank you for your coverage! This is the only KU website I go to and, as a former journalism major, I really appreciate your coverage and this website. Keep up the great work and, please, disregard the people who have nothing better to do than to criticize. Keegan- I enjoy " The Keegan Ratings". Thanks for a fun Sunday read.

I understand that we are all impressed with the freshman Patterson. But I think that Briscoe should hold the number 1 spot this week

Sounds like it's pretty much a consensus that 5Decade has gotten incredibly annoying.I've already made my opinion of his stupidity known, but in case you missed it, add me to the list.

Kind of odd to see an entire thread supporting the LJW, there are many other fans on here like 5decade...

Briscoe's TD's totalled 10 yards! 10!! It wasn't like he out ran anyone for a score, or hurdled a defender to get there (Patterson)

Yahweh, you might be right that there are many other fans as negative as 5decade, but you're wrong that they're like him. NOBODY bitches as much on this site as he does. I've been sick of his cr*p for ages, and it's nice to see so many others commenting on it.It's like he has some kind of personal vendetta against Keegan. 5Decade, do us ALL a favor and stay the f**k away from this site!!!
