Great report of status of players. We need to realize that results of games are dependent on ability and how coaches use the players.

Torry Locklin is definitely not going to be on this year's roster....

Rivals and Hudl say he signed. There aren't any articles coming up about something else happening to keep him away. Where do you think he's going?

Bryson Stricker 1 year, 1 month ago

He is coming to Kansas, he is in a similar situation to Jalan Robinson last I heard.

They aren't on the roster that KU recently released. Not sure why, or maybe they're coming later. Hopefully, we're not getting into the JC attrition whole before we even get started. Coach had been doing so much better with actually getting the players on to the field.

lol, everyone who isn't on campus isn't on the spring roster, this is normal. Tom's article was about players on the team, not on the spring roster.

Very thin roster on DL. DT Wise can't get hurt. Period. Also, CB Coe Harris is almost guaranteed to play. Not good.

Bryson Stricker 1 year, 1 month ago

It's not good that a 4 corner is guaranteed to play? Find me a school that isn't top 10 in country and a 4 corner isn't guaranteed to play...

That position is 90% mental. You either have it or dont. The physical gifts just help speed up experience.

Stop trying to find every down part you can about this program. There are enough obvious ones.

CB Coe Harris is almost guaranteed to play because he is good. If he were at OU, it might take a few games, but ... (hint: google 2017 OU DB starters)

I like this list but like Bryson said a few missing. I think CB could be a strength for us this year but DL does look like it could be an issue. We shall see!

Getting better at producing readable content now that your anti-Beaty/Zenger bias has been removed from your writing. Keep it up.

Tom, excellent article, thanks. Any chance you could identify the Junior College transfers with "(JC)" after their names, for reference? thanks, & RCJH

Seems like Beaty will be loading up on Juco talent to fill the holes at those positions. Either that or he is setting up the new coach to be very thin at those positions way not good. Oh boy.

Kevin Robert Fest 1 year, 1 month ago

What a great idea to load up on Jucos on the d line with no freshman or sophomores at the positions. And next year? We will be even thinner.

Bryson Stricker 1 year, 1 month ago

JUCO DL is the safest spot to go JUCO so I'm fine with that. I'd expect us to to try and grab a high schooler or two this year but going JUCO is honestly fine at this position because proven size and speed matters.

There's at least one walk-on kicker that's missing. Probably a few other walk-ons that would fill out the roster in other spots also.

Enough talent here to go 4-8 with good coaching. Wins over Nicholls St, CMU, Rutgers & UT in November in Lawrence. Thus, we shall go 1-11. Rock Chalk.

Dirk Medema 1 year, 1 month ago

Still only 77 players listed, and a few were walk-ons at least to start. Getting closer.

42 O to 32 D + 3 ST

Guessing that Coach isn't turning down Big 12 caliber players at most any position and DL in particular or saying he won't take a HS player because he already has a JC. These are the players that accepted offers. A huge turn around from where we started 4 years ago.

Now for some results follow on the field.

You have a guy (Beaty) who can arguably gather the groceries and ingredients. He just has absolutely no idea how to cook the meal (3-33).
