After Tyshawn Taylor used an old phrase "Cut off the head and the body dies," to describe his intense m2m defense shutting down opponent's post guards, I posted two paintographs during the NCAA Tournament that were intended to echo that sentiment graphically by showing obviously doctored pictures of the heads of two opposing point guards separated from their bodies. However, according to 2-3 posters, the paintographs were too dark, or gruesome, in their impressions. When I made them, I tried to take care to avoid to realistic of a portrayal, but apparently I failed for some. So: after some reflection, and after review of the pictures, I have decided to delete them from the gallery. I do so out of respect for the aliases, for the opposing players, and for The Legacy. I have to say I still do not find them too dark, or gruesome, based on my own taste, but I realize my taste is no more universal than the next alias' taste. My position on violence in the game is that it needs to be reduced. In several paintographs, I have portrayed imagery in an effort to call attention to excessive violence in the game. I think that has been appropriate. But since portraying, however unrealistically, the "cutting off of the head so the body will die" phrase is inconsistent with my advocacy for less violence in the game, out it goes The gallery is meant to be a celebration of basketball, and occasionally used to criticize the violence of the gam.
