Everyone loves a Pirate.

Surely, even the Bob Knight redeeming AD would appreciate Mike Leach.

Arrrrrrrrgghhh Matey, ye be wrong.

Texas Tech fired Mike Leach yesterday, and all reports are because he locked a Player into a Electrical Closet. Somewhere in Western Pennslyvania there is a rather loud chuckling, probably something about the kid coming out of the Closet, or possibly that even that is considered abuse these days.

The mutual respect soceity between Mark Mangino and Mike Leach was two sided. Ask either them about Nick Reid..... and you'll find that answer is an interesting story is in itself.

You see, It does not surprise me that our Conference AD's are head hunting this year..... Aside from Pinkel, Snyder and Pelini the North coaches did not hold up their end. Surprisingly, Hawkins kept his Job while two former coach of the Year winners ( and candidates ) got Canned..... While anyone Not named Mack Brown or Bob Stoops in the South is on the hook whether they are men above the age of Forty or not. Our conference has been a retread conference, ask most of our fans.... Tuberville, and Fullmer were our reflex reactions. Think about Dennis Franchione's time at aTm. Howard Schnellenberger at Oklahoma. So far, Mike Sherman at the aTm.

Call it Maniacal despotism, Call It Random Weirdness.... but the two eccentrics are back on the job market. Two that stood up together go out together. Now, It will be interesting who Texas Tech brings a calling..... Based on in-state oppurtunity, I would see Fedora being a good choice, but I think the interesting hire here would be Kevin Sumlin.... Runs the Spread not unlike leach did, and has an aura about him that projects winning tendancy. Just not the crazy pirate infatuation.

Time will tell. Today was a sad day for Pirate Lovers in Lubbock, and Somewhere in West Pennslyvania also.
