Scot was, and is, one of the great polarizing figures in sports because he challenges people at their core. Right-brain people (artists) love him... he's an animated anarchist via his history with hair, facial expressions, and of course, commentary. Left-brain people (conformists) hate him because they feel threatened by his presence; a reminder that there are different kinds of people in the world besides just the khaki pants crowd.

But hey, don't take my word for it, experience it yourself by viewing the infamous left-brain Cheryl Miller clips:

Scot belongs on the tube... love him or hate him, you WILL watch! I happen to love him... he's at the top of my Hawk list!

Could we have asked the fine people at Yacht Club to turn down the music?

Scot is one of my all-time favorite Hawks, hands-down!

Phil. I wish that you and other reporters would use the word "former" instead of "ex". You use it on the title of this article yet you use "ex" under his picture. "Ex" has such negative connotations and Scot, while being colorful, didn't leave in a negative way. Now I feel better since showing my anal side.

  7. murph (anonymous) says…

I agree completely that "ex" has a negative tone to it, but as he proves over and over, "former" doesn't really fit the more special post-career Jayhawks like Scot. In the ways that count, he's still a Jayhawk at heart - living in Lawrence, showing up at basketball activities (and when there's an alumni occasion) and lending his vocal support to the current team. He's a great, great ambassador for the Hawks, and it's wonderful to have him.

I can't help but wish, though, that we could come up with a more fitting adjective to describe his status. Let's at least try something like "alumni"... For Scot and the majority of others, "graduate" applies, but that leaves us with noting good to call the recent development of those, like Mario Chalmers, who leave early but still show they care about their time in the crimson and blue.

    One intelligent interview!

Murph. Good point, I didn't think of it that way. Maybe "former standout" or "former (name the sport) player". Having an "ex" spouse has always left a bad taste in my mouth for that prefix.

Wow that was a really long answer to a pretty easy question. What if he asks you how to make peanut butter & jelly sandwich. It would crash LJ World's server. Can I come to this huge party in Indi, I want to see this theater. Hey bragger, why don't you talk about how big your house is a little more. Hey Scuba Scot , we get it, you have a big house.
