Vandals turn 'KS' sign in Manhattan into 'KU'

As KU fans we are better than this. This is what other fan bases do not ours. We are supposed to be the respectful good guys.

Upsetting and shows no class, whoever did this is not allowed to be a KU fan anymore in my opinion!

chris - lighten up. Placing black trashbags over white rocks hardly counts as vandalism. If it was sign defamed with EMAW in spraypaint, then I'd call it vandalism. This was harmless prank.

I agree with Jayhawkerjoel and Manhattanhawkfan this is not spray painting over a sign on I70 ! this is a simple easy to clean up prank with no property ruined ! hoe that is considered vandalism makes no sense

If they would have destroyed anything, that's one thing... This was a good natured prank, with no damage whatsoever.

What is wrong with our society where we are so hellbent on throwing people in jail for the littlest things. Or we want to sue somebody over something ridiculous.

Take it at face value, it's a good natured prank/joke. I have no doubt that KSU fans/students will come up with something similar at KU. When that happens (as long as no vandalism or permanent damage is done) i'll laugh, and admire the dedication there too.

jayhawkerjoel- I never said anything about considering it vandalism because I dont. I just think we as Jayhawk fans are better than this. In my opinion, what seperates us from other schools and other fan bases is that we do not do this type of thing. I do find it laughable that the RCPD is investigating this as a vandalism.

Yeah, calling this "vandalism" is quite a stretch. They didn't destroy or deface anything. Just a clever prank. No one needs to be arrested.

This isn't hardly new either. My dad told me that when he was in college in the early 70's some KU students did something almost exactly like this. I think it's funny and since there isn't any permanent damage or difficult cleanup I don't know why the police really care. I am glad it made the news though, just so I could get a chuckle.

That would be such a joke if they were considering investigating this when its not even vandalism. Maybe they should investigate all the ksu fans who are vandalizing all the ku signs with their stupid "EMAW' slogan.

That was hilarious, thanks to whoever pulled it off! I'm one of the biggest KU fans in Manhattan, and was on my way out to a job out that way this morning and saw it. Lots of whining & bitching among the grapes today, I love every minute! If it was some one local, they could have got me to help!

Littleapplehawk---Sure are brave being a Jayhawk in Purple Land!

I got a chuckle out of this. I guessing whoever did it were a little lubricated, to say the least. I would be more worried about the responsible parties drinking and driving. I am agreeing with a lot of the posters above---as long as there wasn't any damage, then, I think it's a harmless prank. Somebody or bodies have a lot of time on their hands and went to a lot of work to pull this off!

Its an opinion, I dont come on here and call people little girls because they have an opinion that differs from mine. Maybe I am in the minority on this but it is still my opinion and I have a right to voice it. I'm a pilot based out of Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska as apart of the 3d wing. I am from Norman originally, but lived most of my life in Wichita. I am not an OU fan. BoomrSoonr is my call sign given to me during flight school back in '04 once they found out where I was from. I fought it tooth n' nail, but it stuck. I am a Jayhawker through and through, and this must be the 150th time I've explained on this website that I'm not an OU fan in any way shape or form. I graduated from KU in 2001, and joined the Air Force immediately afterwards. I need to start punching back again to get my call sign changed to RockChalky. Work in progress.

SwampHawk glad to see your post...I went in the early '80s and what a sight it was in the little apple to see the big KU on the hill on gameday....It's a longstanding tradition that goes WAY back...glad to see it continue...and the creativity of those who did it who changed the prank from vandelism with paint.... to littering with the trash bags...nice touch !!
