Leave it to Bill Self to find the next diamond-in-the-rough (to whatever degree). Players like Rush, Chalmers, Wright, Collins, Aldrich, Arthur, and hopefully Henry(s), Twins??, EJ??, etc, etc. I look at the images of these highschoolers, and think about Taylor and the Twins, all tall and lanky, and am reminded about how many areas of maturation must happen to create a successful transition from prep ball to top Div1 ball...I hope all our kids succeed for their as well as our sake.

Hate to say this but Chalmers, Rush, Wright, Collins, Aldrich, Arthur and Henry are not diamonds in the rough. RussRob, Sasha and Jackson are good players that HCBS turned into better players. All High School kids are tall and lanky unless it's Lebron James.

I know this is unrelated, but it's AFH vs The Pit in the Semis of an online poll for best arena. AFH currently has a 52-48 % lead, but The Pit has closed the gap from 65-35 in a few days. I guess they listed the poll in the Alburqueque paper. Today is the last day to vote, so, if you have a second, vote!

Did Barnes mention that it meant a lot to him to see KU players there to watch him play? I feel privileged to be a part of such a classy program, we really do set the standard. It is no wonder that HCBS is able to do what he does. Plus the fact that it is a difficult job, molding young people to reach their fullest potential. Doesn't hurt that Danny and company are right there with him. Is it October yet?

docBean, Its easy to miss my gyst: What I was trying to convey is those highly recruited guys like Rush, Chalmers, etc were not NBA-ready, although certainly top talent. The comparison to Xavier Henry is he is "not" in the rough (he supposedly IS NBA ready)--and more, according to alot of experts, than Brandon Rush, Shady, et al were. Xavier Henry is the highest ranked recruit for Bill Self ever, thus I simply would say 'not-so-rough'. Its all relative. We had several McDs before, but none as NBA-ready as X. Hopefully X is fantastic. Its all good for KU bball, though. The compliment in all my comments is to Self's talent in recruiting--solid. .....hopefully clear as mud now? Regards. RCJH

Just had a thought: Maybe I will follow KY ball (on the side) for sheer entertainment, as that should be better than any ongoing soap-opera...

So....we're one of TWELVE "finalists"? Those two words don't go together.

It's really early yet, but I think Duke and Kansas are of "high interest" to Harrison right now, whereas other 10 schools on his list (including Iowa St) are of "medium interest". It seems like I also remember reading something that said he wants to stay somewhat close to home...so I like the odds of seeing him in a Jayhawk uniform. We are totally due for another Iowa star...it's been six years since Collison/Hinrich :)

Barnes looks like another Danny Manning. He wants to be a shooting guard but he has that look like he's going to add another 4 of 5 inches of height.

If so... he will be another Danny.

Would be nice to see a guard with a good jumpshot ... turn into a center with ball handling skills and a great jumpshot.....

He's a year away.... and we will get LOADS of Love in the next Year.....

COmes down to Duke v. Kansas..... I like our chances.....

Coach K's on his way down and Self is not even in his Prime yet......

Plus, we got the ace in the hole....

We have forgotten more history than North Carolinan's have made..... We are the epitomy of team sport and class..... Our Head coaches don't fake seizures to get extra timeouts.... and we are not the second generation of Bobby Knight ..... and over the next few years I forsee a Great Dominant Force arising in Lawrence....

He will chose Kansas... Or He will Pay Heed......
