Being a native Kansan and parent of KU Grads, it's with Great Pleasure that I will once again go into the office and have complete bragging rights!

It is pitiful that not even one LJW staff writer has made a serious effort at pre-game analysis of this extremely important game with UTenn.Does ANYONE on the staff have any analytical ability at all? Do we have to rely on the readers for all of the credible analysis? This is pathetic.Look at the headlines of the stories leading up to KU's first highly ranked opponent this season:--Little might play today vs. Tennessee --Pearl radiates energy on court --Brady finding his role--Gary Bedore’s KU basketball notebookNot one story mentions whether KU has a good, or poor chance of winning. Not one story tells us the kind of offense UTenn runs. One story barely mentions that they like to press. Not one story breaks down what we ought to expect from which opposing players. Not one story talks about match-ups. And the only thing the stories of the previous week mention is that UTenn's big man is decent and that he conked his head and is going to play. What is the freaking deal here?

I can see where Woodling and Mayer maybe too old, or demented, to talk strategy and analyse the opponent, but what about some of the youngsters on the staff, the one's young enough to know what Wii is. I mean, video games have some strategy to them. If nothing else, you have to decide whether to drive Mario and his cart up the up escalator, or up the down escalator. Such choice implies higher level brain function. Use yours.C'mon, this is the greatest basketball program in the USA. Manyof the greatest coaching minds in the history of the game have ties to this program. The game of basketball is one of the most intellectually challenging and stimulating games extant in terms of strategy and tactics. Our coach, Bill Self, is a master at coming up with wrinkles that alter the outcomes of games. He wins 81 percent of his games. He's not on a random walk. He runs an Eddie ball offense that is entirely about seeking out mismatches. Each game could have a book written about it before hand. And the best the LJW staff can do is talk about Bruce Pearl's energy? Earn your freaking paychecks, will ya?Even if you are too lazy to care about doing your jobs to the best of your abilities, at least act in your own self-interests. Newspapers and media companies are losing their readerships faster than USA is losing its jobs to outsourcing. Newspapers and media companies are laying off employees faster than rats are jumping from Bush's sinking ship. Try writing about the game! Let me repeat that. Try writing about the game!!!!!!! It could save your jobs. Surely you care about that! This game, this legacy, is the only reason people come to this website. People are thirsting to know about it. People are putting up with the drivel you are writing about it, they keep putting up with what other posters write about it, because they keep hoping someone on the staff will write something for them that indicates professionalism and craft and analytical capability. If you write it, they will come.Is this heaven, Ray?No, this is Kansas.
