Hopefully we can hear from CJ and XH themselves. We don't need to hear from Carl. He's done enough pressers to last a life time.

Carl is a good man. He is a Jayhawk if you have forgotten! It doesnt matter who we hear from, as long as we hear they are attending KU we are set.

X's game is like mine (aggressivly smooth). This is a huge win for KU!!! Comprable only to PKP's win in 1993 with the MN bros!!!

LJW, or anyone with the info, how about giving us some background on C.J. and how he is expected to impact the team? I know he was highly recruited at one time. Could he be a diamond in the rough here?

It hasn't even been a month since the coaching change. Call me a softie, but that isn't exactly an eternity.

When did everyone get sooooo lazy with their writing that they have to cryptically abbreviate everything in their sentences? Are we really so lazy that we have to let people try to figure out PKP and MN bros? For the love of Pete, just type it out! Texting has become the death of actual writing skills...

HCBS = Head Coach Bill Self, I got that one. Can't we just call him Coach, or Coach Self, or maybe even just Self? At least spell it all out the first time it is used in a post, then abbreviate.

Too many people have relied on texting skills for their real world skills and these people ending up writing like 11 year olds with a new cell phone. Very sad...

I agree sportjunky. HCBS seems silly to write. Self is just fine to write. We never referred to Roy Williams as HCRW. Just Roy. Well, let's just refer now to Self.

I agree with you 100% sportjunky. People need to spell out what they are saying so that others don't have to guess what abbreviations mean. And if we can get Dick Vitale to quit saying "PTP" for prime time player, that would be even better.

I hope we get CJ and Xavier but if we don't I will still cheer wildly for the Jayhawks.

Yeah, enough of this abbreviation stuff. And unless Xavier's borther's name is literrly just "C" followed by "J", then we should use his full name: Carl's Junior or wharever it is.

I don't think anyone should blame Carl for the recruiting drama; it is fans like us that are whipping up this media frenzy. As TwinCitiesJHawk reminds us, Carl Henry is a Jayhawk and we should be thankful to keep the family at KU.

Xavier and CJ, look forward to having you on the team!

Aside from "CJ" and"KU", I tried to not use any abbreviations in this post

There is absolutely no reason to get excited about recruiting no matter how good a kid looks in high school. Whatever he has done in the past doesn't mean a thing when it comes to D1 college hoops. We had Paul Pierce and couldn't win it all and I guarantee this kid isn't better than Pierce.

soobawls, i disagree. it seems that most of your posts are negative. I think Xavier has a lot of talent and could be a key to KU making a championship run next year. It doesn't mean that KU necessarily wins a NC, but KU would have a great chance at 2 titles within 2 years!

it's hard not to abbreviate

I don't believe that LA was using text-speak in his post. I'm pretty sure that the main reason that I don't understand it is because in 1993 I was a 9 year old who rented Contra 3 on the super nintendo (SNES) every weekend and watched Nickolodeon after school.

"HCBS" is the same amount of letters as "Self' so how exactly are we abbreviating by putting a block of capitals that interrupts the flow instead of Self, a name which everyone recognizes anyway.

About the important stuff... I am still not sure if CJ can play next year (conflicting reports about eligibility), but if he can, he is expected to back up Sherron at the point. At this point, though, we have about 11 players worthy of being in the rotation, and that is going to get whittled down to 8 or 9 significant contributors at some point, so it is going to be interesting and maybe sad to see which guys are left out. With the talent we now have next year, I would be absolutely shocked if Reed, Releford, or Morningstar play more than walk-on minutes next year (end of games and a few minutes to spell guys around tv timeouts or foul trouble).

Again, I am excited about this but once they announce it for sure, then I will be truly happy.

plasticJHawk (anonymous) says...

boogeyman,

funny thing about what you said about Reed and Morningstar is that it's basically what people were saying about them a year ago. Everyone was talking about the starting 5 of Sherron, Tyshawn, Mario, Marcus, and Cole. And of course about Releford, Appleton, Markieff, Quintrell, and even about Conner Teahan.

I thought that Reed would be a contributor but had no clue that Morningstar would be so valuable. I wouldn't write these guys off. It definitely will be a battle for minutes though. If this year was bad, then next year we will have lots more playing time complaints. Releford knows that he's gotta be working hard this offseason if he's gonna be in the mix next year.

We practically need a depth chart for basketball now similar to the one we use in football.

Guards - Collins, Taylor, E. Johnson, CJ Henry, Morningstar, Reed
Small Forwards - X. Henry, Little, Releford
Power Forwards - Mc. Morris, T. Robinson, Mk. Morris
Centers - Aldrich, Withey

That's 9 D1 capable perimeter players and 5 D1 capable post players. Sorry Teahan.

That is a rediculous amount of talent, and an even more rediculous amount of bodies.

April 23, 2009 at 10:13 a.m. ( | suggest removal )

scootja32 (anonymous) says...

that's 14 players that would start on at least one other Big XII team. Hell, Teahan could probably start for Colorado.

This team is absolutely NUTS!!!

You could take the starting lineup for a Sweet Sixteen team with two potential All-Americans [Collins, Aldrich, Morningstar, Marcus M and Taylor] and put them up against a team of "new guys" [Withey, Robinson, X, CJ and Johnson]....and the veteran team would have it's hands full!!!!!

unbelievable.....and if, somehow, Lance joins the mix....Jaybate, help me...whats the next stage after unbelievable...COSMIC???
