KU won't commit to downtown parade for National Champions
This is just ridiculous. I can't believe that there is resistance from KU Athletics to a parade. I think LJW and all the other local papers need to put this story on the front page of tomorrow's editions. An immediate celebration is nice but as everyone else has already said, it leaves the rest of us who work, are in school, or aren't in Lawrence without the opportunity to join in the celebration. Think about it, they've been invited to the White House, but the athletic department doesn't want to have a parade. Where does common sense fit into this equation?
Lew Perkins needs to know about the bad press that Marchiony is bringing to the program by his condescending remarks and fix it fast. Lew -- Let's celebrate with everyone and have a parade!

Self dismisses interest in OSU
I have to agree, the problem certainly wasn't that Al was a "prick." I worked for Al while I was a student at Toledo and he was a genuinely caring individual. He went far and above what I've seen in other ADs when it relates to working with staff and students.

Chalmers: Pan Am snub 'in the past'
I'm glad those logos are getting mentioned. I noticed while watching several games people were losing their footing on them. At what point will player safety and the integrity of the game be more important than the big advertising dollars and self promotion? One of the broadcasters said it best when referring to the three NCAA logos on every court, and I'm paraphrasing, "Everyone knows it's an NCAA game." It's sad that it will likely take a serious injury in order for this to change.

Stewart: 'It was hard'
I think they both deserve a great deal of respect for being able to perform as well as they did under the circumstances. Hopefully the university will be sending representatives to both funerals as a show of support and solidarity. They _ARE_ Jayhawk family!!

Missouri lawmaker wants open season on Jayhawks
If I were a Missouri resident I'd be calling my own state senator wanting to know exactly what this publicity stunt is costing the state coffers. That bill had to get typed, proofed, reviewed by a legislative staff attorney, be printed who knows how many times, etc. That isn't free and if it were my tax dollars I'd be livid! Aren't there any real issues in his district that he could more wisely invest this time and money?
